Planning to Attend Christmas and New Year Events? Then be aware of reduced transportation services in London. Plan ahead your journey in London some major changes that you should keep in mind to get around in London during festive time are:

Public Transportation

If you are planning to travel by train then it will be challenging task for you to get around , Holiday makers be aware  that there will be no Gatwick express services from 24th Dec to 3rd Jan as they are planning for major rail improvement works. Reduced train services to and from Heathrow on 27december and 28th December.

The road network becomes busier than usual and involves many road closers and bus diversions. Some Coaches operators will run limited services from Gatwick, Stansted and Luton.

Private Transportation:

Private hire services provide 24x7 transfer services throughout the festive period. But advance booking is much preferable as it provides comfortable journey without any distractions in your plan.


25th December: (Christmas Day)

Public Transportation:

Tubes/ National Rail/ Underground services are not  available on Christmas day and Coaches like Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted operators will run their services with reduced times. During the festive season station will always be busy and needs plenty of time. So make sure to have plenty of time to travel by bus.

Private Transportation:

Extra Charge will be charged by taxis services. Private hire car companies will run as usual during the festive season without any diversions.


31st December: (New Year Eve) 

Public Transportation:

London underground and tube will run Saturday services and National rail will provide very limited services. 

Private Transportation:

Taxi services are available 24x7 with extra charge. Private hire car companies will run as usual during the festive season. Pre booking of their services are preferable.


1st January: (New Year day)

Public Transportation:

Tube and underground will run Saturday services. Some trains will change the times during these days. National rail will provide limited services effected by engineering works.

Private Transportation:
Extra charge will be charged by taxis services. Private hire car companies will run as usual during the festive season without any diversions.
